Today, a Spark spokesman said the fault was with Chorus - not Spark - and assured customers they had both been working together closely to attempt to fix the problem over the last two days.
He said the fault had affected around 60 Spark customers, but could not comment on whether customers from other internet service providers were impacted.
He apologised to any customers who were affected by the outage.
A Chorus spokesman said the issue with the fibre network had impacted around 125 households in the area.
"We've got a crew on site at the moment repairing the fault. We'll hopefully have it back up and running soon."
He said customers considering compensation would need to get in touch with their internet service providers in the first instance.
Meanwhile, internet had already been restored to some residents in the Howick area this afternoon.
The Bleakhouse Rd resident said after two days, his internet finally switched back on this afternoon.
"I'm glad. I think everyone in this area is glad - nobody had internet here, it was myself, my neighbours, everybody.
He said he wished Spark had of told him the problem was with Chorus from the beginning, and would expect a "big company" such as Spark to notify customers of any issues.
"Spark should have said it was Chorus, contact them, instead of just saying we don't know what is going on."
