A Featherston woman aged in her 60s had to be airlifted to Wellington Hospital in a serious condition on Sunday night after being found in medical difficulties in a parked car.
Featherston firefighters were first to attend the woman at Burling Flats, off Bell St in Featherston, followed by WellingtonFree Ambulance paramedics.
She was transported to Alexander Park and transferred to the Westpac rescue helicopter.
Yesterday Life Flight operations manager Dave Greenberg said she was in Wellington's Intensive Care Unit in a serious condition.
The rescue capped off what was "the busiest weekend we have had for quite a while," said Mr Greenberg.
Since Friday, Life Flight had attended five other rescues, including the winch rescue of a Tararua tramper and a Wairarapa man suffering allergic reaction to bee stings.
