Transport spokeswoman Julie Anne Genter said this shows young people want to continue using public transport.
"It's crystal clear that people want fast, affordable and efficient public transport, but the Government continues to pour billions into a few expensive highways instead."
Other key findings of the report include:
•Members of Generation Y were projected to continue to use public transport at a higher rate than the older generation, indicating a generational, not age effect

•Ninety per cent of generation Y expected a change in their travel patterns in the next five years
•Generation Y's listed increased service frequency during peak hours, improved coverage, bus priority lanes, free service transfers as top priorities.
•The older generation listed improved coverage, increased peak, evening and weekend services, integrated ticketing and shorter trip times as top priorities.
