Graedon Parker and brothers Nick and Jason Corliss want to reverse this - and have started Organic Mechanic, a smoothie stall and health business, to make it happen.
The story behind the company starts with Graedon's close friend and Nick and Jason's father, Mike Corliss, who radically transformed his own lifestyle after diagnosis with multiple myeloma cancer about ten years ago.

"During that time, one of the most important lessons we learned was to take full responsibility of what goes into our bodies, our minds and what practices we support."
At the moment, the only sure-fire way to grab one of Organic Mechanic's superfood smoothies is to visit the La Cigale French Markets in Parnell.
The business has also started catering for private and corporate events, including a recent gig that involved making 800 smoothies in two hours.

Organic Mechanic's Basic Green Smoothie
This smoothie is designed to help with radiant skin and hair, good joints, good digestion and a clean liver. Depending on your budget, always try to eat organic wherever possible.
• 1 pear/apple
• 1 frozen banana
• 1 large cup of leafy greens (spinach, kale and/or silverbeet)
• 1/2 avocado
• 1 inch of ginger
• 1 Tbsp coconut oil
• 1/2 tsp turmeric
• 1 1/2 cup pure water
• handful ice

• 1 Tbsp psyllium husk powder
• 1 tsp maca power
