Real Estate agent banned over interference with documents

The Real Estates Agents licensing board has banned Ning Kun Yuan (Aken Yuan) from acting as a real estate agent for a year.

He worked at Barfoot & Thompson's New Lynn office.

The institute had sought his interim suspension and said he accepted liability but sought to be heard before the board.

Misconduct concerned his use of two documents: a listing agreement and a valuation.

He signed the agreement for the vendor but failed to explain he had the vendor's authority to do so, the institute said.

The error was picked up early and he was reprimanded by his licensee.

He also "artificially created a rental valuation" and when spoken to by his manager, admitted he had prepared other false rental valuations on other occasions.

The valuation figures did not mislead, the board said, and he should be able to redeem his real estate career.

But the interference with documents must be penalised, so the 12-month suspension was given.
