Seeing the Herald's article about tourists having to drive under T plates brings to mind the old phrase "people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones". Quite frankly, the standard of driving in New Zealand is deplorable. Every day I see drivers breaking the law because it suits them. Today I flagged down a woman with a phone pressed to her ear, just moving off after dropping three children outside a school. - David

Thank you to the lovely person who sold me a vinyl copy of Dead Famous People's album at a garage sale! They were a band formed in the 1980s in Auckland - one of the best albums I have heard in a long time! Cheers! - Melissa

T plates? What an awful idea! We have people who have been living in NZ for generations and still don't know the road code let alone what the purpose of an "indicator" is! That's the most time-wasting idea this week! What's next? E plates for elderly? - Martha

I think T plates is an awesome idea! People who think it's not should just be quiet. When I'm on the road and I see a vehicle with L plates I know for a fact that the driver in that car could be learning and I should be patient. After all, didn't everyone go through the learning phase? Let our tourists be! Good for them wanting to drive in NZ. Touring NZ is awesome, but touring while driving through our landscapes is breathtaking! - Polly-Ann
