Onewa Rd construction bomb site, three weeks in a 1km dust bowl and counting! What is the contractor thinking -- that the thousands of commuters will happily wash the cement dust off the car each day, let alone the poor residents?

This is a rave about Sam, the DoC ranger on Motuihe. Due to a bit of disorganisation getting 12 teens to a rendezvous, we dropped our daughter and 11 others in the dark for a weekend camping on Motuihe. Noticing headlights approach the group in the dark we thought this isn't going to turn out well. Rain, teenagers, darkness, equipment. Not only did Sam run two trips with gear up to their camp site but [he] provided light to pitch tents by and a "review" on Monday of great kids having a great time. This certainly made their, and our, weekend.

The dog owner who let her pooch poop on the grass in Gillies Ave then picked up a dead leaf to cover the poop. Shame on you .

A huge thanks to the wonderful lady who went out of her way to get an injured runner home on Xmas Eve, before going home to mow her lawns and ready the house for at least 20 people for Xmas Day.

What is it about cows nowadays that makes my milk curdle when I add it to my coffee five days before its "best before" date expires? Then a day later it won't even pour out of the bottle. How old is this stuff that fills the supermarket shelves? And yes, the milk went straight into a chilly bag at the supermarket, and then straight into the fridge, and the fridge is cold enough to freeze eggs.

Well done to the contractors who reinforced the brick work around the Wintergardens in the Domain. Thousands of old bricks removed, cleaned, chipped and measured. Wall reinforced and the original bricks put back. That's very skilful and I hope they were paid by each brick.
