My husband and I parked at New World supermarket in Kerikeri and noticed the car next to us was empty but its driver window was wound down and the keys were in the ignition. My husband found the owner in the pizza bar. When reminded that it was not safe she said things like that did not happen in Kerikeri. Obviously she had taken no notice of police pleas about securing your vehicle or the crime stats in the area.
Husband and I (both in late 70s) were unloading a large parcel from a loan trailer when a kind driver wearing a Lahood shirt pulled up to help us. He put the parcel on his handcart and wheeled it into our garage before going on his way. Thank you so much for being such a gentleman.

We do not register cats or chip them and we leave them out roaming the streets. This is deliberate neglect of a pet and should be a punishable offence.
The Kiwi Rail Northern Explorer to Wellington was just pulling out of the hard-to-find Strand railway station when a family, with children, pulled into the car park after losing their way around Auckland. They waved at the driver of the moving train: he stopped, the ticketing staff reopened their office, checked them and their luggage in, they boarded the train, and off it went about three minutes late. Good for KiwiRail; where else in the world would this happen?

I was walking from Meadowbank station via Lucerne Rd along the Orakei Basin, enjoying the sights of nature and people walking and water-skiing, only to see many dog-poo bags left littering the path. Top marks for picking it up and bagging it, but please just a bit of extra effort and remove it.

Last week I carelessly left my handbag containing my credit cards and mobile phone in the shopping trolley at Pak'nSave Glen Innes. A thousand thanks to the kind and honest gentleman who retrieved them and handed them into the office. Receptionist there didn't know your name or number but said you were still in the store, and would point you out to me as you came by so I could thank you. After I had waited near the exit half an hour, we realised you must have left before I got there. So belated and very sincere thanks.
