For policeman Chris raving on Thursday morning: We followed a white panel van from Parnell to Orakei yesterday. Not once did he indicate a turn and his near side brake light wasn't working. You know when you are following a texter as the vehicle veers from side to sideacross the lane. At the Kepa Rd roundabout he stopped altogether even though there was no traffic. Only a prolonged blast got him moving. $80 fines are inconsequential to these drivers. It should be $800.

I have just bought from a well-known supermarket a bag of wholegrain oat porridge for $3.25. The packet says it contains 25 servings. This equates to just 13c per serving. How good is that?
Paid $449 for a vacuum cleaner to vacuum the carpet in my modest flat. The vacuum cleaner carries a two-year warranty. The buttons were stuck so I took it to the shop for repair. I was subsequently told that I had been vacuuming either plaster, asbestos or both! I was offered a choice: We'll bin it for you or you can collect and bin it yourself. So much for the warranty.
The lid came off our recycling bin and disappeared into the recycling truck when emptied. Within one week of a call to the council, it had been replaced and before 8am. Pretty impressive Auckland Council!

To the person who picked up and kept the Lucky Dip lotto ticket that we dropped in Silverdale Pak'nSave on Wednesday morning - you were recorded on the store security video. Please return our ticket to the supermarket.

A huge thanks to Phil of Spark, Westfield Shopping Centre, Albany. I went in search of a new mobile phone to replace my ancient one and he patiently and courteously showed me the options available. Phil put in a new sim card, set up the new phone with my old number and gave me some good tips on how to use the various apps. Thanks Phil, your kindness was much appreciated by me.
