Rant To the man in the vehicle who aggressively tried to push in front of me on the on-ramp to the Southern Motorway from the Southeastern, it's called merging like a zip and being courteous to fellow road users. I would like to think the thumbs-up you gave me when youfinally pulled in behind me meant you learned your lesson about merging. But that's highly doubtful. From the blue car. Ashley
Rave I have just had to phone IRD three times in the past 24 hours. Each time the phone was answered immediately and each person I dealt with was very polite and helpful. They guided me through the forms I had to fill in and made helpful suggestions on how to save information. I suppose it also helps that the phone calls will result in a refund! Helen
Rant My wife, laden down with bits and pieces, accidentally left her walking stick leaning against the counter at the Post Shop at Westfield, Chartwell. She returned to collect it a few minutes later to discover that some ratbag had already walked off with it. John Neave
Rave Riding to work on my scooter on Thursday I was hit from behind by a female driver who drove away from the scene. To the others who attended to my immediate needs, called the ambulance and stayed with me, I thank you for your kindness. I sustained injuries but I will make a full recovery. For every bad citizen out there, there are a team of good sorts who do the right thing and I am grateful to you. Hayley
Rant I have recently been working in a reasonably "well-off area" on Auckland's North Shore. One day I found a ticket for no warrant on my windscreen. Fair enough, I thought. Then I started noticing the wardens actively targeting these areas, slinking down streets peering into car windows. I spend an equal amount of time in areas not considered well off but never see these wardens there. Has the council stooped that low? Yes it has! Carl Scott
Rave Last Wednesday my husband, a friend and I were having lunch at a cafe at Piha when an amazing thing happened. The lady who had served us came over and refunded our money, saying some people who had just left wanted to pay for us. To those wonderful people, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for that lovely random act of kindness. You made more than the day for three elderly people. Mavis
