Rant I counted 23 men on a crowded bus and not one stood up for a 68-year-old lady. Is there no chivalry any more? Maxine Green
Rave Because of roadworks the footpath betweenHomai Primary and Manurewa High, on my side of the road, was closed at both ends so my two granddaughters (6 and 7) were directed to cross at the crossing. This they did, and walked up the road until they were opposite my house, then tried to cross this incredibly busy road. My rave goes to the workman in his fluoro vest who stopped the traffic and walked them across to my house, averting what could have been a nasty accident. Thank you so much. Chris
Rant I have been appalled on many occasions by the arrogant attitude of some walkers in Cornwall Park. I had an encounter with one man who was walking in the middle of the road. I expected him to move to the footpath so I could drive past but he kept walking towards me and I had to stop the car. He continued his walk in the middle of the road after first glaring at me as if I had no right to drive on his road. Please, some consideration by walkers for drivers would not go amiss. Rave A lot of heartfelt thanks here; to the couple who stopped and called the ambulance, the lady living nearby who gave a blanket, the doctor who stopped his car and helped, the ambulance drivers, and many passersby who offered help. My partner was knocked down by a car. It turned out to be just bruises and scrapes but I'm grateful for the kind concern and help of many strangers following a scary, shocking event. Sally
Rant I cannot understand the popularity of baseball caps. They don't prevent the tops of your ears getting sunburnt. Ah but, I hear you say, you get the next size larger and tuck your ears inside. And I have to tell you that makes you look like a twit, whichever way round you wear the cap. No, get a hat with a brim. David
Rave Thank you to two couples at the Sunday Eagles concert - the ones sitting in J4 and J5 who lent us their waterproof blanket out of the blue, and the couple in front who gave us a towel on arrival to wipe our wet seats down. The ponchos were okay but you people made it so much more comfortable. What wonderful people. We think Auckland is a fabulous place to visit and with people like you it made it even more special.
