On Friday morning my car was nearly hit by a dangerous, aggressive driver in a company ute between Penrose and Greenlane. When I honked my horn to warn him that I was there, he proceeded by giving the fingers, slamming on his brakes, more fingers and then dangerously weaved through the morning rush to exit at Greenlane.

I love the new Birkenhead Transport bus timetable, especially in the evenings. It is nice not to have that feeling of abandonment, particularly while waiting at the Victoria St bus stop where I never feel very secure. I spend a lot more time in the city now and it is a fun place to be.

About a year ago, I was paying $2.20 a litre, in Auckland, for petrol and oil was $90-$100 a barrel. Today, according to market figures, oil is $44 a barrel and has been dropping in price for the past several months. Why then is a litre of petrol, in Auckland today, $1.97 a litre when a few months ago it was around $1.60?

Thank you to the people responsible for lighting up the harbour bridge each night. It gives a sense of vibrancy and I hope the council consider keeping it lit up once the Auckland Festival is over.
