Rant
After flying from Auckland to Brisbane, I found items had been stolen from a locked suitcase. All the airline offered was a letter "for insurance purposes". Scary to think we have thieves working in a high-security area of our airport.

I wish to recognise Steve Curran from Southern Towing. He saved me from a tyre blowout in busy traffic on the Southern Motorway. His courtesy and kindness went well beyond the call of duty.

Rant
I would like to rant about motorists who leave too much distance between vehicles stopped at traffic lights. Some drivers leave a car length or more and so prevent other motorists from getting through the intersection when the lights go green.

I saw a young man frantically signalling a bus on the North Shore that had just left the stop in front of me. When it went past him without stopping, he buried his face in his hands in distress and stood there. Sensing it was urgent, I pulled over to see if I could drop him anywhere but we were going in different ways, so I then offered to take him and try to get ahead of the bus at the next few stops. He got into the passenger seat and then we found the bus had stopped at the next stop and a person - the driver, or a passenger who had seen the incident - was waiting at the side of the bus looking back to see the outcome of our discussions. I dropped a very relieved young man off at the stop. My Rave is to the bus driver, who took the time to wait at the next stop because he, too, noticed the man's distress.
