Racer dies after speedway accident

A speedway rider involved in a crash on Sunday died in Auckland Hospital overnight.

Police have asked to be contacted by people who saw the crash at the Patiki Rd Speedway.

Police spokeswoman Andi Brotherston today confirmed the death of the 39-year-old west Auckland man, but was not immediately able to release his name.

The rider fell from his machine during a race and was run over by another rider.
