The Queen's Birthday weekend road toll sits at one after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Napier.
Police are investigating the incident which occurred on State Highway 2, just north of Hawke's Bay Airport in Napier, about 11pm last night.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
The driver
of the vehicle was speaking with police and the Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
SH2 was closed between the airport and Bay View. Diversions were in place.
