Queen St blocked after fire at Gucci store

A fire has broken out at the Queen Street store of luxury goods maker Gucci, filling the shop with smoke.

The newly opened shop was plunged into darkness as fire fighters put the fire out.

Senior station officer Jeff McCulloch said the fire started after a light was placed too close to wooden ceiling trim.

Four fire engines blocked off half of Queen St.

Gucci store staff referred nzherald.co.nz inquiries to their head office in Sydney, who had not yet been told of the fire.
