Visitors to Queen Elizabeth Park will no longer be welcomed by the chirp of the birds formerly housed in the park aviaries.
The aviaries are due to be demolished as part of the third stage of the park's rejuvenation plan, and the birds have been re-homed.
Masterton District Council parksand recreation manager Grant Hathaway said the birds were relocated late last year, and the majority went to Dannevirke.
"Demolition is scheduled for April so planting of grass can follow immediately after."
The cost of demolition and removal of the waste is approximately $10,000. There will be carparks built adjacent to the aviary site, which will have turf cover.
