A punter has won a share in a purebred racehorse at the Boxing Day races.
Diana Booysens has been coming to the races with her dad, Errol, since she was a little girl in South Africa.
Until now she had not been a part of the racing industry.
That changed when her name was drawn this afternoon in a race day competition to win a ten per cent share in a new race horse for two years.
The horse is so new she doesn't yet know it's name.
Booysens said she was in shock at her good luck.
"I still don't really believe it."
Her dad, who Booysens and her brothers had brought to Ellerslie today as a Christmas present, was the one who encouraged her to enter.
"I never usually enter competitions and i had said I don't think im going to enter this one," she said.
Errol said he was "really excited and proud" for his daughter".
They expect the horse to be ready to race by next summer.
