Psychiatric report for Waterview murder accused

A man accused of murder was remanded in custody for a week for a psychiatric examination after appearing in Auckland District Court today.

David Francis Fa, is charged with murdering Stuart Michael Stone, 23, a print press operator, from Avondale, Auckland, on January 27.

Police launched a homicide inquiry after Mr Stone's body was found outside a house in suburban Waterview and later charged Fa with assault and with possession of an offensive weapon.

The charge was upgraded to murder yesterday.
