Probations trialling GPS

Community Probation Services have begun a month-long trial to monitor offenders.

The nationwide experiment will test the Global Positioning System technology on staff to trial its suitability for keeping track of offenders on home detention or parole.

The aim was to test how useful GPS monitoring was in a range of locations and situations, CPS general manager Katrina Casey said.
