Prince Harry rides waves alongside a professional surfer in California- and it comes at a cost

Prince Harry has shown the public there’s another side to royalty - one that includes catching waves in sunny California.

A clip posted to Instagram shows Harry, 41, and Tahitian surfer Raimana Van Bastolaer catching a six-foot wave together in Leemore, central California.

The manmade wave pool, nicknamed the “Surf Ranch”, belongs to world champion surfer Kelly Slater, who has owned the mammoth wave since 2015. Prince Harry is said to be a repeat visitor, with other celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey and Lewis Hamilton making an appearance over the years.

Harry appears to have taken the wave fairly easily, with Van Bastolaer having navigated him through previous surfing lessons.

Van Bastolaer captioned the post “cannot stop you my brother from having a good time”.

The Duke of Sussex seems determined to learn; with reports a session costs around $50,000 for low-season fees and up to $70,000 in the popular season.
