Two primary school pupils have been kicked out after taking cannabis to school.
The two pupils ran foul of the zero tolerance drugs policy at Peterhead School in Flaxmere, Hawke's Bay.
Being under 16 they were "excluded" rather than being expelled and now attend another school.
Principal Martin Genet said
the pupils brought a small amount of cannabis to school, not to smoke or deal, but rather to show off.
"They made a mistake and that was the consequence," he said.
Children knew the policy regarding drugs and the school worked with the community constable in these cases, Mr Genet said.
