Prebble won't comment on report of split

Former act party leader Richard Prebble is understood to have separated from his second wife, Doreen.

Mr Prebble declined yesterday to confirm or deny the split.

"I wouldn't dream of making any comment about my personal life."

Mrs Prebble was yesterday still in Solomon Islands, where the two have recently spent most of their time away from Parliament. She declined to comment.

Mr Prebble was in Wellington. He had returned from the Solomons early this week after a two-week parliamentary recess.

It was reported earlier that Mr Prebble intended to step down from Parliament at the election to work on projects for the Solomon Islands Government.
