Power restored after Christchurch outage

Power has been restored to twelve thousand homes in Christchurch.

The outage was a result of a cable fault on Milton Street which feeds power to the suburb of St Martins and other southwest areas.

Orion spokesman Rob Jamieson says power was restored just after nine after being out for several hours.

Orion CEO Roger Sutton had said it was the same group of customers who lost power just over a week ago after another 5.3 magnitude quake rattled the city.
