Power pole snapped after crash near Taupo

A car has crashed into a power pole near Taupo snapping it in the process.

A police media spokeswoman said a car with one occupant hit a power pole on Centennial Drive at 9.20am.

The power company was notified and the driver was uninjured.

Police were at the scene and the road was partially blocked.

Earlier reports that power lines were down were incorrect.
