Power outage in Auckland's CBD

Around 580 customers were without power for just over an hour in Auckland's CBD last night.

Businesses around Victoria St lost power at about 7.15pm but it was restored to all but 15 customers by 8.30pm.

Many businesses were able to keep operating during the outage thanks to generators.

A Vector spokeswoman said the outage was focused around a substation in Victoria St although the cause was not yet known.
