Around 1400 homes are without power in East Auckland tonight as Vector crews deal with a cable fault.
Some 5000 homes were originally affected stretching from Mt Wellington to St Heliers, Fairfax reported.
Vector blamed the cut, which happened just before 8pm, on a cable fault. The majority of homes
had power restored by 8.30pm.
A Vector spokeswoman said just before 9.30pm there were still 1400 homes that had no power in the Glen Innes area.
"We hope to restore them within the next half hour," she said.
