Porsches stop best with porcelain

Porsche's new ceramic brakes.

Porsche is joining in the celebrations for the 300th anniversary of the discovery of porcelain in Saxony as only it can: by displaying one of its high-tech ceramic brakes.

The company was a pioneer of ceramic vehicle construction. Ceramic brakes not only have superior stopping power, they weigh about 50 per cent less than conventional units.

Ceramic disks are also non-corroding, which make them less sensitive to salt.
