Whips get it wrong

Labour's whips cast the vote of Independent MP Taito Phillip Field the wrong way in Tuesday night's vote in Parliament on legislation protecting MPs' rights to spend taxpayer money on advertising during next year's election campaign.

Mr Field's vote was cast in favour when he had instructed it be cast against the measure.

The vote on the bill's third and final reading was amended accordingly to 65-52 in favour.
