Police worried for missing boat owner who moored their yacht on Lake Benmore

Police are concerned for the welfare of a boat owner who left their small, red yacht moored on Lake Benmore in the South Island a week ago.

Omarama Police said the sail boat had been moored at a farmer's private jetty since December 31, but the owner had not been seen.

The police wanted to check if the owner was ok, Senior Constable Nayland Smith told Fairfax.

"There's no way out there unless it's by boat."

Smith requested anyone with information to contact him on 0211914808.
