Police warn motorists of icy roads

Police are warning motorists to take extreme care on South Island roads after reports of thick ice.

Inspector Warren Kemp said many roads were affected, including State Highway One, between Dunedin and Timaru, was also affected.

Meanwhile, further north, the MetService is warning of ice on the Lewis Pass in the South Island and the Desert Rd in the North Island.
