Police seeking elderly man missing in New Plymouth

Police are calling for sightings of an elderly man missing in New Plymouth.

Donald May, 83, was last seen at his home in the coastal suburb of Spotswood at 5.30pm.

May is about 1.7m and has silvery-grey hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-blue jersey, dark trackpants and dark slippers, police said.

New Plymouth police say they are becoming "increasingly concerned" for his safety because of his age and the cold weather.

The temperature in New Plymouth was forecast to drop to 5C overnight.

Police have asked the public to report any sightings of May immediately by calling 111.
