Police are calling for any witnesses after a 12-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by a couple in Tauranga this morning.
The girl was abducted from Baycroft Avenue in Merivale about 8am and driven to Greerton Village, near the Countdown Supermarket, where she ran away once the car was parked, SeniorSergeant Dave Archibald said.
Mr Archibald said the girl was shaken but unhurt.
The car's occupants were described as a large Polynesian man, dressed in black with facial tattoos, and a slightly built woman, also dressed in black.
The car was described as old, red, and in poor condition.
The couple and the car were seen at the supermarket a short time later, Mr Archibald.
