Police seek man following Auckland indecent assault

Police are on the hunt for a gap-toothed man who indecently assaulted a woman at an Auckland bus stop and are appealing to the public for help.

About 4.20pm on Wednesday last week, a young woman got off a bus at the Sunnynook Bus Station on the Northern Busway.

As the woman walked along a path towards Kaipatiki, a man ran up behind her.

Police say he grabbed the woman, covered her mouth and indecently assaulted her.

"He then ran back, grabbed his bag from a seat, and fled," a police statement says.

The man is described as dark-skinned and possibly of Indian or Indonesian decent, with a gap in the front of his teeth and black hair.

CCTV images reveal he was clad in a "very distinctive" black t-shirt with yellow horizontal stripes along the torso, three-quarter length denim shorts, dark socks and ankle length boots.

The attacker was carrying a large dark-coloured bag with long straps he wore on his shoulder.
