Police search harbour for missing man

West Auckland police were this morning still searching for a man who went into the water at West Harbour last night.

The 22-year-old man was understood to have walked into the water near Luckens Reserve and became stuck in the mud. A friend who went in after him was winched out by police helicopter just after midnight.

Henderson acting senior sergeant Ian Byrne said a police inflatable boat and helicopter were being used this morning to try and find the man.
