Police search for possible missing kayaker off Kāpiti Coast near Raumati

Police say they fear a kayaker may be missing off the Kāpiti Coast after a kayak and personal belongings were discovered.

Police said they are working to determine the circumstances surrounding an unattended kayak located about 500m off Raumati Beach at midday.

A piece of clothing was also spotted at Raumati Beach.

Police said they would like to hear from anyone who recognises the black hoodie with a rose design or the kayak.

The kayak that was found was blue and appears to have been filled with fishing equipment, nets and ropes.

“We’re making inquiries to understand the circumstances of this.

“We have found these items and want to make sure everyone is safe,” police said.
