Police rescue man swimming 100m from shore in Porirua

Police are rescuing a man seen swimming fully clothed in a Porirua bay this morning.

"We've had a report that a fully clothed man was swimming out from rocks about 100m out," a police spokeswoman said.

The man was spotted shortly before 7.45am in Pukerua Bay.

Police in a dinghy are trying to save the man and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter is on its way.
