Police release names of two motorcyclists killed in Tokoroa truck collision

Police have named the two men killed when their motorbikes collided with a tanker on SH1 near Tokoroa on Friday.

They were Steven Charles Ward, 59, of Hastings and Ian Michael Emerson, 41, from Putaruru.

The crash happened about 2.40pm on Friday, about 1km north of Puriri Rd. Both men died at the scene.

Police have offered their sympathies to the friends and family of both victims.

Senior Sergeant Fane Troy of Taupo police said the scene was "complex" and covered a 200m section of road.

The Serious Crash Unit is still investigating.
