Police raid Welcome Bay property

Reports are coming in of a heavy police presence in Welcome Bay.

A Bay of Plenty Times reader said they spotted police at a property on Rocky Cutting Rd about about 9am.

A New Zealand Police spokesman has just confirmed the raid, saying police were executing a search warrant.

The spokesman would not release any further details, including whether there had been any arrests or firearms involved.

The raid comes nearly a month after a search warrant at another Welcome Bay property, which resulted in six arrests. Read more about that here.
