Christchurch Police have arrested a young man following an assault yesterday where a woman was stabbed in St Martins.
A 22-year-old is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court this afternoon after he was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Meanwhile, police were investigating an incident in Halswell earlier today after a person voluntarily reported themselves to hospital with injuries.
They were notified of a "disorder incident" on Jarrow Place in Halswell shortly before 11am, a spokesperson said.

One person was injured but police did not have confirmed details of the injuries at this stage.
"We are speaking to those involved," the spokesperson said. A spokesman for St John told the Herald they did not attend the incident.
Elsewhere, Detective Senior Sergeant Nicola Reeves said the woman who was stabbed in St Martins yesterday remained in hospital.
She was in a serious but stable condition.
"Police take this sort of matter very seriously and have worked quickly to identify and apprehend the person responsible," Reeves said.
"We want to reassure the public that there is no risk to their safety. Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident."
