Police name 'worst bar' for pre-trouble drink

A Tauranga bar has been named worst in the country for drunken customers having their last drink there before getting into trouble with police.

Western Bay of Plenty area commander Inspector Mike Clement said this week the Grumpy Mole on The Strand came out the worst in the latest "last drink" survey, the Bay of Plenty Times reported.

The survey was carried out by police who, when they apprehend a heavily intoxicated person, asked where they had their last drink.

In the past six months, 51 people apprehended by police said they had their last drink at The Grumpy Mole.
