Police name woman whose body was found in sea after party

Police have named the woman whose body was found in the sea in Napier last night.

Danielle Joy Christison, 36, was drinking with friends at a small gathering at a Bayview house.

She left the party and walked to the beach, and was last seen at the water's edge.

When she did not return, a concerned woman friend paddled out on a surf ski into the ocean to look for her and found the floating body.

With the help the coastguard the woman was brought ashore.

Sergeant Malcolm Lochrie said Ms Christison had been heavily intoxicated and got into an argument with some people at the house before leaving.

Police were not treating the death as suspicious, he said.
