Police have identified the woman who died in a two-car collision in Levin on Sunday night.
She was 48-year-old Fiona Rae from Palmerston North.
The accident occurred at the intersection of State Highway 57 and Waihou Rd about 8pm when a northbound and southbound vehicle collided.
The injured male driveris in Palmerston North Hospital in a stable condition.
Levin Police said the crash investigation was ongoing but preliminary indications suggested the northbound vehicle may have crossed the centre-line before colliding with the southbound vehicle.
Officers would speak with witnesses over coming days, police said.
The death has been referred to the coroner.It is understood to be the third fatality on the roads over weekend, following a man who died after a head-on crash near Sanson on Saturday and a motorcyclist who died after colliding with a ute in South Auckland on Sunday.
