Police name man killed in Middlemarch plane crash

Police have named the man who died in a microlight crash near Middlemarch on Sunday.

He was 73-year-old Murray Barrington of Brighton, Dunedin.

A second man was seriously injured in the crash at Welshman's Creek, northeast of Middlemarch. He was taken to Dunedin Hospital and is believed to be in a stable condition.

Both men were members of the Otago Aero Club.

Police have extended their condolences to Barrington's family.

They are still investigating the cause of the crash.
