Police name man killed in farm vehicle collision in Bay of Plenty

A man killed after a farm vehicle collided with a train in the Bay of Plenty was a local.

Police have named him as Matthew Paul Pettigrew. He was 53.

Pettigrew was killed on Friday night after the four wheel all-terrain vehicle he was on collided with a train at Whakamarama.

Two other people were onboard the vehicle.

One person was treated for minor injuries at Tauranga Hospital after the incident, and a third person was uninjured.

The crash happened at the corners of Turntable Hill Rd and Apata Station Rd at 8.20pm.

Police said the death would be referred to the Coroner.
