Waitematā West CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Ryan Bunting said a woman was arrested at a West Auckland address on Sunday afternoon.
“A 47-year-old Henderson woman is currently facing charges of failing to stop or ascertain injury, as well as two counts of driving while disqualified,” he said.
“We are not seeking anyone else in connection with this matter.”
An autopsy was done on Monday, a police spokesperson said.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
On the day of the incident, a team of detectives, the specialist search group, a forensic photographer and the Serious Crash Unit arrived at the scene along with frontline officers, as investigations took place.
The arrested woman appeared in the Waitākere District Court on Monday and was scheduled to reappear on December 18.
