Police have named the man who died from stab wounds following a fight in Christchurch last night.
He was Andre James Delamare, 41.
A 39-year-old man will appear in Christchurch District Court this morning charged with assault and cultivation of cannabis.
Further charges were being considered, said Detective Senior Sergeant
David Harvey.
Mr Delamare was found lying on the side of Olliviers Rd, east of the city centre, about 6.40pm yesterday with two other men around him.
He had suffered stab wounds and died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.
The scene was still cordoned off this morning while police investigated.
"Anyone who was in that area around 6.30pm last evening and has any information or saw any altercation, should contact us," Mr Harvey said.
