Police are out in numbers at the Orakei train station in Auckland tonight as a large group of youths are congregating.
The Herald has heard from two people who have passed through the station saying that the youths were gathered and appeared to be gearing up for a fight.
Apolice spokeswoman said "quite a few" police staff were on site trying to defuse the situation.
"There is a big group gathered at the station," she said.
She said the Eagle helicopter was circling the area and it was quite intimidating to drive through.
An Auckland Transport spokesperson said police were leading the response.
"The police are on site at the station at the moment and everything seems to be in order at the moment."
In July 2015 a fight involving about 60 students from two Auckland schools broke out at Orakei train station over a photo posted to Facebook insulting an opposing school's rugby jersey.
