Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a farm shed between Lincoln and Taitapu, southwest of Christchurch, early on Monday morning.
Detective Warwick Holmes, of Hornby CIB, said the fire began about 1am.
Mr Holmes told NZPA the five-bay shed housed a workshop, haybarn and horse stables.
Equipment to the value of about $50,000 was lost.
Police were aware of an increase in minor wilful damage and thefts in the area and were seeking information from the public, he said.
