Police investigating arson of South Dunedin house

Dunedin police and fire safety officials are investigating a suspected arson at an empty house in Lookout Point.

Acting Senior Sergeant Tania Baron said emergency services were called to the burning house, in South Dunedin, about 2.35am today . Firefighters managed put the fire out before it caused extensive damage to the house.

"It certainly looks suspicious at this stage. The fire was started in the basement. We're looking into it today," she said.
